Itasha References & Client Projects | AnimeSzene.jp

Creativity without passion remains superficial.

The saying “A picture is worth a thousand words” captures it well: images convey content directly, emotionally, and often more powerfully than text alone.

In our reference gallery, we present selected projects created with care, imagination, and craftsmanship – from illustrations and Itasha designs to custom client work.

Anime illustrations, tailored vehicle designs, creative commissions – our work speaks for itself.

In the sections below, you’ll find examples that show how we bring ideas to life – clearly, personally, and with attention to detail.

A Prototype with Soul – Our Journey to Itasha Design

Developing our Itasha prototype was an extraordinary journey – one that challenged us to learn, grow, and think beyond the ordinary. Instead of designing simple postcards or posters, we took on the ambitious task of styling an entire vehicle to scale, with precision and passion.

To bring our vision to life, we needed a bold and skilled wrap specialist – someone willing to embrace our intricate designs. We found that partner in „Werbeteam Hausmann“ in Dresden, whose courage and craftsmanship matched our enthusiasm.

Before diving into technical details, here are a few key design elements that shaped our concept:

  • Amaterasu – the sun goddess with imperial roots
  • Shinto fox – a spiritual symbol from Japanese tradition
  • Cherry blossoms – a must-have in any authentic Japan-inspired design
  • Tō – the Japanese pagoda found in Buddhist temple complexes
  • Fuji-san (富士山) – Japan’s iconic landmark
  • Butterfly – a delicate symbol of love and transformation

We deliberately chose a one-of-a-kind design to stand out – not just visually, but emotionally. Our connection to Japan wasn’t a trend; it was a tribute to a culture we deeply admire.

Client Project: Partial Wrap Featuring a Custom Ninjagirl Design

For this unique client project, we were commissioned to create an Itasha-style partial wrap featuring a custom-designed Ninjagirl – sensual, elegant, and with a subtle erotic touch, tailored to the client’s vision.

To bring this idea to life, we gathered his thoughts, inspirations, and reference images. Together, we shaped a creative concept that blends personality with visual impact.

One thing was especially important to us: the client was actively involved from the very beginning. His input wasn’t just welcomed – it was essential. Because true individuality is born through collaboration.

Original Client Feedback

I'm really happy with the Itasha you created for me. I've already had people ask if they could take photos of my car, which is super cool. They also asked who did the wrap, and I was more than happy to share that. It feels great to stand out with my car because it's truly unique. You delivered exactly what I wanted. My respect to the illustrator and a huge thank-you for making this dream come true. I love the Itasha and I'm proud of it.

Amazing work and great people at AnimeSzene.jp and Werbeteam Hausmann.

Client Project: Partial Wrap Featuring Megurine Luka – A Dream Made Visible

This project was all about turning a long-held dream into reality. Our client, a passionate fan of Megurine Luka, had envisioned showcasing his favorite virtual star on his car for years.

The challenge? No one was willing to take it on. But instead of settling for generic designs, he had a crystal-clear vision – from the pose and outfit to the exact facial expression. And that made all the difference.

We embraced the challenge with respect and enthusiasm, bringing his idea to life with precision and heart. The result? More than just a partial wrap – it’s a rolling tribute to individuality, fandom, and creative courage.

Original Client Feedback

I had been searching for years for a team that could design and execute a wrap like this. The problem was always the same: either no designer was available who worked with such motifs, or there was no way to carry out the actual wrapping. Sometimes, the quality of the wrap materials was also subpar.

On a recommendation, I found my way to AnimeSzene.jp, who took on the challenge. For nearly a year and a half, we worked through drafts—discussing, revising, and partially discarding ideas. Pose, colors, facial expression, small details, background. In the end, the final design had nothing to do with the original concept. But that turned out to be a good thing.

It’s worth mentioning that even the type of wrap changed twice. We started with a partial wrap, switched to a full wrap for design reasons, and then reverted back to a partial wrap due to technical constraints.

The actual wrapping only took one day. And the result is truly impressive. This car has become a real collector’s item for me.

Reactions to the vehicle vary. Lots of enthusiasm, but also some shock. Itasha style isn’t exactly common in Germany. One thing’s for sure: you definitely stand out. For example, my post featuring the car was liked by a professional race car driver on X.

Sometimes, strange things happen. I was once asked if I was part of the local racing team: “Since when do you guys have Asian cars in the lineup?” Yes, I regularly drive the car on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, but I’m not a race car driver.

All that’s left is to thank AnimeSzene.jp for the great collaboration. I wish you lots of success with your future projects.

Addition of 31.05.2024

Something totally crazy happened yesterday. I was stopped at a red pedestrian light when a group of schoolchildren crossed the street. Then they saw me, stopped in their tracks, pulled out their smartphones, and started taking pictures of the car—blocking half the road in the process. I was shocked at first, then I couldn’t stop laughing. The light had long since turned red for them, cars had green, and none of the other drivers honked.

(This happened in Hannover – Misburg, at the corner of Hannoversche Straße and Grenzstraße, in case you're curious.)

Client Project: A Picture for Remembrance – Childlike Interpretation for a Funeral

This quiet yet deeply moving project allowed us to fulfill a truly heartfelt request. Our client wished to express the loss of his five-year-old niece through a unique illustration – gentle, childlike, and rich in symbolism.

His chosen motif was both touching and imaginative: a small fox riding on an elk, the two gazing together at a clear, star-filled sky. The scene was to be rendered in a childlike style, with special design elements that convey warmth and comfort.

The finished artwork was placed on the casket during the funeral – a silent tribute to love, memory, and connection. It was an honor for us to contribute to such a meaningful moment.

Reflection – Client Feedback After the Funeral

On behalf of everyone, I would like to sincerely thank you for the beautiful illustration that was placed on the casket during the funeral. Mandy did an outstanding job – the design matched my vision perfectly and touched us deeply.

Thank you for your compassionate support and heartfelt sympathy. It truly meant a lot to us.

Client Project: Watercolor Manga Character as a Farewell Gift

This delightful commission came with a unique request: our client wanted a custom manga-style illustration of his colleague – as a heartfelt farewell gift. Why? She looked like a manga character and was a passionate fan of Asian and Korean culture, as well as a skilled Taekwondo master.

The chosen setting was as imaginative as it was meaningful: an Extremely Large Telescope, symbolizing vision, exploration, and the vast possibilities ahead – a fitting tribute to her next chapter.

The artwork was created in watercolor, with thoughtful details that reflect her personality, strength, and cultural affinity. A gift that’s not only memorable, but deeply personal.

Original Client Feedback

We handed her the artwork—complete with a matching duvet cover! She was absolutely stunned, her jaw literally dropped. She was overjoyed and amazed by the level of detail: "Even my necklace is there… and the bracelet says ‘long live the King’… how did you manage that?" Well, we had excellent communication throughout the process!

As you can see, the artwork has earned a prime spot. We suspect the family photo may have quietly been moved to a drawer.

Thanks again for everything—from me and from Lea.

Client Project: A3 Digital Pet Portrait – A Wish Fulfilled

This deeply touching project allowed us to fulfill a heartfelt wish for a nursing home resident: he longed to have a picture of his beloved dog on the wall – but the only photo he had was tiny, just 4 × 2 cm.

With care and digital hand-drawing techniques, we transformed the miniature image into a full A3 canvas illustration. The result: a lovingly crafted portrait that preserves memories and brings comfort.

The senior was overjoyed – and hung the picture immediately. It’s beautiful to witness how a small gesture can bring such immense happiness. For us, it wasn’t just a commission – it was a moment of true connection.

Client Project: Partial Itasha Wrap Featuring a Custom Character Inspired by Kurumi Tokisaki

For this special Itasha commission, we were asked to create a one-of-a-kind character – sensual, elegant, and subtly erotic, inspired by Kurumi Tokisaki. Our client had a clear vision and provided carefully selected reference materials in advance to help shape the design.

The creative process began with close collaboration: the client was actively involved from the very beginning, contributing ideas and feedback throughout. Some design elements were kept confidential and revealed only upon completion – receiving enthusiastic approval.

The final result is a partial wrap that blends individuality, visual impact, and emotional nuance – a rolling piece of art that speaks volumes.

Original Client Feedback

For a long time, I had simple stickers on my car that I once found on Amazon. Over time, they lost their charm and started to feel incomplete. So I began researching Itasha online and eventually discovered AnimeSzene.jp. After getting personal advice from you at DeDeCo, I decided to do it properly.

After much back and forth regarding my ideas, preferences, and inspirations, we began designing the character. The illustrator completely blew me away and kept surprising me with each new update. Once the drawing was finished, we continued refining and tweaking it together until we reached the final result.

During the wrapping process, a small error was discovered—only visible in the print—but the team quickly identified and corrected it.

Overall, I’m more than satisfied and have absolutely no complaints. I’m glad I chose AnimeSzene.jp to create my Itasha. I’ll definitely recommend you to others.

And if I ever decide to wrap another car, I already know I’ll be coming back to you.

Client Project: Full Itasha Wrap Featuring Custom Black Lagoon Characters

This remarkable project involved creating a full Itasha wrap for a client in Switzerland – featuring custom-designed characters from Black Lagoon, including Yoko and Revy. Weapons were a central design element, and despite her personal aversion to them, Mandy embraced the challenge with professionalism and artistic sensitivity.

The client was deeply involved in the design process from the start, paying close attention to every detail – from poses to color schemes. The result is a bold, visually striking composition that reflects both personality and precision.

A new aspect of this project was the workflow: for the first time, we handed over the completed illustrations to an external company for wrapping, and the final application was carried out directly in Switzerland. The outcome? A stunning Itasha that turns heads and celebrates individuality and fandom in motion.

Original Client Feedback

Hi everyone, I had my Itasha done by AnimeSzene.jp. It wouldn’t be honest to say everything went perfectly, but we stuck with it. In the end, I got a final product that truly stands out. I’m absolutely thrilled with it, and some of the reactions from people are quite amusing—many love it, though of course there are others who see it differently, but that was to be expected.

You’re really lovely people. If I ever take on another project like this, I’ll definitely come back to you.

Client Project: Anime Illustration in the Style of “Your Name” – A Wedding Gift Full of Emotion

For this deeply romantic commission, we were asked to create an anime-style illustration inspired by “Your Name” – a heartfelt wedding gift from a client to her son and his future wife.

The scene is set in Tokyo, on the iconic staircase featured in the anime – a place rich in symbolism and emotional resonance. The artwork captures the couple just before their wedding, in a moment filled with connection and anticipation.

We embraced this challenge with joy and care. Several sketches were created to refine the mood, style, and character likenesses. The final piece is more than an image – it’s a visual story of love, new beginnings, and shared dreams.

Original Client Feedback

“… I’m already thrilled by the artist’s ideas.”
“… Definitely version B—absolutely stunning!!!”
“… I have tears in my eyes…”

Addendum

A video of the gift presentation shows the bride moved to tears. We’re truly grateful to have been part of this beautiful story.

Client Project: Anime Illustration of a Couple’s Photo

Love is a wonderful thing – it inspires our actions, touches our soul, and flows through everything around us. Sometimes, it’s even possible to capture that magic in a single photograph.

Such was the case with this special commission: a tender moment between two people, filled with emotion and connection, was to be reimagined in manga style. With great joy and sensitivity, we brought this vision to life, transforming heartfelt feelings into delicate lines and expressive visual storytelling.

An image that doesn’t just tell a story – it touches the heart.

A Moment We’re Allowed to Share

We’re especially grateful to be able to show the original photo from this commission – a picture full of closeness, warmth, and genuine emotion. It’s an honor to not only interpret this moment artistically, but also to share its original beauty with you.

Our heartfelt thanks to our client for her trust and the permission to make this moment visible.
